Spring 2012 - Winter 2018

dateWinter 2018 Pikes In Print -   Adamant aggressors have a ruthless desire to dominate.  They exist and threaten us today, and they believe that their goals justify any means.  But we can stop them.

So writes Bruce Thatcher and, to illustrate the point he has taken five cases from his first book and condenses each into a concise Kindle digest of 50-70 pages.  Each uses historical examination of one adamant aggressor to show that most nations, most of the time, don’t deal effectively with adamant aggressors.  It details the wrongs and rights about dealing with them and it brings these lessons down to the present time, urging that we apply them in dealing with the likes of Ayatollah Khamenei, Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin ... even China and the Sauds. dateSpring 2018 Pikes In Print -   Bruce Thatcher’s latest work, Rise and Decline: Where We Are and What We Can Do About It shows that the real reasons for a nation’s rise and decline are more basic than military or economic successes and failures.  They have to do with founding values and the degree to which the citizens let those values guide the workings of the nation.  As founding values become ignored or disdained by its citizenry, any nation declines and dies (at least in its founding form).  Thatcher shows that the United States is in decline, but not yet irreversibly. dateWinter 2013 Pikes In Print -   PiKA’s quarterly magazine features Bruce Thatcher and his new book Immigration: How To Avoid Its Perils And Make It Work.  After noting that Thatcher is the founder of History Speaks Today, a project dedicated to applying historical lessons to current problems, the write-up gives a short synopsis of Thatcher’s military service, and work experiences after graduation from Iowa State.  It introduces readers to "His latest book (which) explores the necessity for improved immigration policies instead of higher fences on the border.  The book outlines the flaws in the United States immigration policy and presents clear direction for improvement."improvement." dateSpring 2012 Pikes In Print -   Under the title “IOWA STATE ALUM DRAWS LESSONS FROM HISTORY”, PiKA’s quarterly magazine features Bruce Thatcher, and his first book Adamant Aggressors: How to Recognize and Deal with Them.  The article articulates Thatcher’s belief that “history’s lessons might be better learned and applied by focusing on explicit lessons for the present” rather than just teaching the five W's of various historical areas or personalities. In this first HST book, he derives lessons for today from examination of historical cases – Mehmed the Conqueror, James K. Polk, Adolph Hitler, Chaim Weizmann / David Ben-Gurion and Joseph Stalin.
