Practical Lessons From History, For Today
October 19, 2011 - This day’s
morning show included the topic "Use Lessons from History to Identify Existential Threats” during which Brad Davis and Mary Jones discussed the new
book "Adamant Aggressors: How to Recognize and Deal with Them" with author Bruce Thatcher. The discussion referred to all five cases
in the book, and focused on the criteria that can be used to identify today’s existential threats … adamant aggressors that pose a serious threat can be
identified through positive answers to three critical questions – (1) What is the aggressor’s real long-term goal and will it diminish
our well-being? (2) Is the ultimate goal enduring, one that the aggressor will not give up? (3) Does he/she believe that achievement of this goal justifies
any feasible means? Davis suggested some on the world stage who might today be adamant aggressors.
